No.11. Run platinum points with distributor removed.
This has been done with slightly domed points (stopped at 4100 miles on account of poor result), and repeated with platinum points specially bedded. In both cases the characteristic pip and hollow have formed, suggesting that careful initial bedding is not of much value.
Ref.No. of sample points (two) 11.

No.14. Maximum capacity condenser. Tungsten points.
This has been run with tungsten points with slight initial doming on screw point. There has been a transferrence of metal from screw to lever point, and the appearance is not good though no trimming was required during the test.

N.B. In our early experiments with the Delco-Remy we were supplied by them with domed screw points. Those we have now are flat. It appears that whether domed or flat they run equally well and that the reason for their subsequently reverting to flat points would be simply that the doming was unnecessary. (See 31 below).

No.29. Insulated lever earthed point.
In preparation.

No.30. Delco-Remy lever on RR. breaker.
About to be run.

No.21. Off-set lever. Platinum points.
This has been run with slightly domed screw point stopped at 4100 miles and run again with specially bedded points. In both cases the pip and hollow formed and there appeared to be very little advantage from the careful initial bedding. Samples labelled 21, it being clear which of the two was the initially bedded one.

No.23. Quicker break cam. Platinum points.
This has been run with slightly domed screw point, but stopped at 4100 miles owing to formation of pip and hollow. It was intended to repeat this later with points carefully bedded, but repetition will not be carried out if it is proved from other experiments that there is no advantage from this. Sample labelled 23.
