1180 December 10th.1937. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/AFM.{Anthony F. Martindale}14/AP. Messrs Ferodo Ltd., CHAPEL-EN-LE-FRITH For the attention of Mr.Longley. Dear Sirs, With reference to Mr.Longley's visit here to-day, we are forwarding as requested a piece of Thermoid D.35.IH. This is not the only American lining we have on test, in addition we have S.R.600 and 1815 supplied by the Bendix Corporation. The piece numbers we require for test are GB.750,751, 752 and 754, and GW.571 and 685 in the V.O.91 material. We did not quite understand whether you carry stocks of this or not. If the test samples have to be made especially we suppose they might as well be full thickness, otherwise 1/4" thick would be satisfactory. You may remember we made two drawings Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}425/6 to replace GW.571 and 685 when 1/4" thick linings are used. If we have any choice in the matter we would prefer the test samples of VO.91 to have a coefficient of friction of about 0.35. If you will answer our query as to the thickness in which you propose to supply the test linings then we can send an order for our requirements. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
