Examination of 'Condor' engine connecting rods and the condition of the bronze bush.

Bentley / Mr Barrington} c. to E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. to Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} ------------ X.2059 X.3415✓ RE "CONDOR" CONNECTING RODS. -------------------------------------- We have examined the rods on the 2-cylinder "Condor" engine after 10 hours running. These rods have the bronze bush fitted to the plain rod - the main bush set at 30° with R.R. whitemetal. We have found the whitemetal in the main bearing was in quite good cåndition. The bronze bush appeared quite good but the bearing had a matt kind of surafce whichlooked as though it would wear rapidly. The outside diameter of the steel bush where the plain rod works also have a matt surface. After examining these rods, it looks as though we shall have to use the C.H.N.S. bush with bronze bearing in the plain rod. We consider that the results so far justify us going on with the bronze bush. EH. | ||
