With reference to your Sr/VAL/ET. 14.10.36., we note that the pinion on this car failed due to fracture of the extension carrying the roller bearing.

We do not think you need return the old parts to us as we are familiar with this type of breakage and the pinion has now been altered to dispense with the inner roller race so as to increase the diameter at this point to equal that of the inner track of the roller bearing.

With regard to the crown wheel, we suggest that you keep this for the time being. It is hardly worth returning to Derby as it could not very well be paired up with a new pinion for use on Production.
