With reference to your JLEW/4. 8. 28. We cannot understand the buffer clearances that you give for this car. They are at least .5" less than we expect with rear springs of 1650 lbs. rating, Continental type.

We suggest that when you fitted the Continental springs you omitted to change the rear buffer to K.5813. This buffer is only 1.00" thick. The original buffer was 1.500" thick.

If the buffer is correct there is something wrong with the rear springs and we consider it advisable to revert to the original ones which are now at Cricklewood.

If the buffer was 1.5" thick when the clearances were taken, we consider that with K.5813 the suspension will be satisfactory. for Continental work, provided the appearance of the car is alright.
