To Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/NRC.{N. R. Chandler} 28.9.37. CLEVELAND GRAPHITE BRONZE CO. CLUTCH FACINGS ON 17-G-4. The above were fitted to-day. I took the car to near Ashby and back, gave it severe treatment by starting on top with full engine and slipping it, all out, up Pistern Hill. In every case the take-up was complete in 1 to 2 seconds, and no sign of slip under any condition. The take-up is entirely smooth and silent. Judged on this morning's performance, after about 50 miles, it would be difficult to picture a more perfect clutch. The car is now in regular service, and tests will be made and recorded from time to time. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/NRC.{N. R. Chandler} P.S. A new R.R. driven plate was fitted as the old one was very badly worn and grooved. | ||
