CLEVELAND GRAPHITE BRONZE CLUTCH FACING FOR OLD TYPE ROLLS-ROYCE CLUTCHES. We have now run the first set of these facings on 17.G.IV. The preliminary results seem promising. There are a thousand of these clutches on the road which will not be out of their guarantee until 1939. To take advantage of this material in order to save the Company money is of the utmost importance. We at the moment have just parted with 18.G.IV which was our only experimental car fitted with this type of clutch. We hope, however, to get a figure of merit to demonstrate that this material is at least superior to what is at present in use on this type of clutch, and then try it on the customer forthwith. We are urging the job as far as possible. We attach Chandler's first report on the experiment. We also attach a copy of letter from Ben Hopkins which accompanied the consignment of material.
