FILING COPY x328 To E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Les.19/KW.19.12.35. Phantom III Gearbox Mountings. Re E.1/HP.14.12.35. Up to 17.4.35 there were 6 alternative schemes for front rubbers and 5 alternative rear rubbers (including N.Sch.4463). Progress of parts should be far quicker with fewer schemes. We are now having to adopt the original scheme. With regard to your second paragraph, we have considered that drawings bearing N.Sch. numbers are intended to be suitable for standardisation. In future we suggest that if any experimental scheme is necessary, a suitable heading is given to the drawing. In the normal way it is far quicker for experiments to be tried with slight alterations to existing parts, rather than producing a completely new scheme which requires new moulds for the rubbers. We intend to try N.Sch.4531 with a rubber fitted by T.B.Andre Ltd. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Les.{Ivan A. Leslie} | ||
