- 2 - "(b) The next step was to try the new construction on busses, where a low floor combined with a big gear reduction was a great attraction. Here, with more offset to the pinion, heavier loads, and much greater mileage, they ran into trouble with the ring gear almost immediately. Evidently Gleasons feel that they cannot do any more, either in passenger or commercial vehicles, till they have overcome this trouble. As soon as we hear further from them we will let you know."
