1. The usual four blade type of fan is fitted to the heater as standard. Extra fans have been ordered of a centrifugal type with varying blade depths and angles. The system of measuring air flows which has been developed consists of a small fan driven recorder on the end of a two foot pipe 3" diameter. By means of a stop watch air flow velocities in feet per second can be measured and this tackle will be used to obtain a comparison between the various types of fan.

It is anticipated that the centrifugal type of fan will be just as efficient and considerably quieter than the blade fan.

2. The heater casing is to capable of rotating to give three set positions.

(a). Full heat delivery to the interior of the car.

(b). 50% of the heat to the car, 50% to the defrosters, this being arranged by balancing air pressures.

(d). All the heat to the defrosters for demisting purpose in summer.

II. RADIATORS.

Heat dissipation figures on Markex five and six matrices as compared with the honeycomb matrix were requested and curves were promised. There has apparently been no further advances on Mark six blocks up to the present time.

III.CORROSION.

The subject of corrosion when using normal coolant in engines consisting of both cast iron and aluminium was raised, but very little information was obtainable. An article by F.M.Young of the Young Radiator Co. U.S.A., was obtained, however, and a short summary is attached.

The principal points arising from this article appears to be as follows:-

1. 25% solution of muriatic acid is suggested as an effective cleaner for removing scale. Care must be taken however to ensure the system is thoroughly cleaned after use or the cure may be worst than the cause.
