Chassis B-1-CW.

Many thanks for your memo. on B-1-CW.

I have gone over the figures very carefully, and though in the first place it appeared that your body was 37 lbs. lighter than ours, the weight of the complete car did not bear out this figure. Our 'C' series cars with standardised Saloon bodies, complete with accessories and tools as you mention them, weigh 3627 lbs., whereas your car weighs 3640 lbs. Looking for the discrepancy we find that you have taken your chassis weight as 2560 lbs, but you have not included the spare wheel or the tool kit which are normally incorporated in our chassis weights. The spare wheel weighs 52 lbs. and the tool kit 31 1/2 lbs., so if we add this to your chassis weight it becomes 2643 1/2 lbs. This is definitely 29 lbs. heavier than the 'C' series chassis we are turning out, so that somehow the chassis figure of 2560 lbs. which you gave me is too much.

With regard to the body weight, you have not included the spare wheel hub which is normally included in our standardised Saloon, which adds 12 lbs. to your body weight figure. Therefore taking into account the 39 lbs. which has somehow disappeared from the chassis, and the 12 lbs. for the hub, your body comes out almost exactly the same as that of our standardised Saloon which I still consider is exceptionally good considering that it has steel front wings and a good deal of steel panelling.

I shall be most interested to try this car when I come over to Paris, which I hope may be before Easter.
