RE EXTRA WIRES TO FRONT OF CHASSIS.

We thank you for your EYI/W.3.5.30. re our instructions for fitting a dual wire to the front distribution box for each headlamp, on the 20/25HP Chassis.

It may be that Sales did not fully comprehend the whole of the facts when they issued the instruction cancelling the scheme for P2. We have not seen a copy of that letter.

The question first arose in connection with the wiring for the Centre Lamp on P2. The wire is trailed along under the bonnet and the wiring and fitting costs £10.

It was suggested by "H", JLE{J. Lee Evans - Chassis Test Manager}?, and our electricians, that much cost and trouble would be saved if the wire could be run through our conduits when the chassis was built. We therefore suggested that one extra wire be included on each side. There are very few cases in which one wire extra is not needed, for besides the case of the centre lamp there are the Double Bulb Continental Type Lamps and the Bi-focal Lamps and also the Electrical Dippers needing two extra wires. If these are not fitted there is the Fog Lamp on the front horn.

Our feeling is that it seems a pity to have wires outside of our conduits on a considerable proportion of our cars and that the wiring should cost so much. If we fitted the wires as standard it would reduce the cost to the customer of our centre lamp scheme from £18 to about £8.

One of the chief objections which there is to the scheme of a centre lamp is its cost compared with other types of anti-dazzle lamps.
