PETROL FEED. PHANTOM II. Some months ago the difficulty of obtaining a satisfactory petrol feed on dynamometer test was put up to us. In our Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn{Mr Robinson}2/AD7.11.29 we reported fully on the trouble and recommended that the filter banjos should be opened out and a straight through connection substituted for the banjo on the float chamber. The filter has been dealt with by HY.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} but the feed on the float chamber has not yet been altered and Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} is still going to a lot of trouble with his level setting to get cars off test. Since we have submitted a straight through connection to Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} and he is satisfied that this cures this trouble, we recommend that it should be drawn out and fitted to the next 10,000 miles car which will start in a few days. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} has stated that he is in agreement. Major Segrave's criticisms of 1-WJ prove that on the road we are not free from trouble.
