Dear Sirs,

We thank you for your letter of Sept. 1st. with reference to the Torsiograph records, we would like to say that, although these may show absence of serious torsional oscillation, the presence of bending loads on the unbalanced crank in question, can still account for the repeated failure of the centre main bearing. When we have investigated this factor however, from your drawing supplied, we will be in a better position to form an opinion.

In the meantime, we shall be very interested to hear the result of your test with lead bronze liners with white metal.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
