To Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} From Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X2066. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}3/MJ.16.1.30. x2066 x4481 x1583 OIL FOR HYPOID REAR AXLES. During the last week or ten days, the chief chemist from Messrs. Wakefields' has spent two days at Derby and has worked with Hl., making comparative tests in the Laboratory on oil to replace Whitmore's. The Laboratory tests have proved very successful. That is, the oil will stand the same load as Whitmore's. The position is, that we are now waiting for an aged test on this oil to see whether it is likely to deteriorate with use, and if this is successful we propose obtaining a quantity of it to try out on axles. We have also had a visit from Messrs. Prices' and we are trying out their sample oil on an axle. The [crossed out text] Laboratory tests shew that this should give equal results to Whitmore's. We are also carrying out an ageing test on this oil before we order any quantity. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
