To: Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X684 PN{Mr Northey}10/HW/16.8.26. re ELIMINATION OF NOISE IN MACHINERY. I recently had an interview with a representative of Messrs. Standard Telephones & Cables Ltd., and now enclose herewith a letter written by him, dated the 13th instant, setting out briefly the matter that we discussed. I wish to know whether you have any information about this method of noise elimination or whether it has been brought to your notice that Springfield have done, or are doing, any experimental work in this connection. Personally, I cannot see that we need be concerned with Mr. Snook's invention because, I take it, we have already endeavoured to turn audible frequencies into inaudible frequencies where the noise of a certain component makes this change feasible.
