1245 To Bentley Motors Ltd. Derby ............ Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Levallois Sr/VA7/ET.15.5.39 Re: BENTLEY CHASSIS N° B.106.HK{Col. T. Harker - Sales} With reference to Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}4/R.12.5.39, we did not fit "L" section rings to this engine when we rebored the cylinders and fitted a set of EB.3I5I o/s pistons, because we thought that boring out and fitting the closer fit (skirt) pistons would cure the overoiling trouble. We also did not know whether it was advisable to fit an "L" ring to the above type of piston. Anyway, if the oil consumption does not improve, we will arrange to fit a set of "L" rings (one to each piston) and will let you know the results. We will also let you know the oil consumption when this car has covered 1500 to 2000 miles. Sr/VA. | ||
