Notes of Meeting. Chassis - Cont'd.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} Supercharging the Bentley. A separate Graham Paige Supercharger is being sent to us from America for us to try on a Bentley car. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} and others wish to run the Graham Paige further mileage before it is disposed of. On test 17/9/34 PHANTOM II. 28-EX. 15,000 Miles Test Car. It is hoped to get this away to France for 15,000 mile test before the holidays. In addition to the items referred to in the last Minutes, it is now fitted with larger carburetter and old type camshaft, the idea being to get greater silence and at the same time, with the aid of the larger carburetter, retain the horse power. The carburetter has already done 15,000 miles test, and the camshaft will be merely reverting to something which we have done before. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} has looked into the question of material and finds that if the other items are passed by the test, we can introduce all these mods. on the 51st chassis in "F" Series, or earlier if possible. Silent tappets, Camshaft & Carb. O.K. 20/25 HP. 21-G-4. This car has gone to France for 15,000 Miles Test. It was tried by Sales Officials and said to be very good indeed, except for the steering, which was undoubtedly stiff. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} has looked into the question of material and finds that it is not possible to introduce the mods. before the 51st in "F" Series, but if the test goes through O.K., we may be able to introduce it earlier by increasing the amount of scrap, especially if the output is reduced. Easier Change Gearboxes. No development since last meeting. We are waiting to hear from Spontan and Hydraulic Couplings re Voigt Torque Convertor. The 11 HP. Singer car referred to had not been tried, but it is hoped to do so shortly. Diamond Cylinder Boring. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} said that this matter was progressing satisfactorily and that Archdales were going to design a special machine. Gearboxes with synchromesh Second for 20/25 and Bentley. The work of sealing down SpectreCodename for Phantom III box still in hand. | ||
