Notes of Meeting.

Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}14/D25.7.34. -3-

Textolite Gears. Position much the same as per Former Minutes.
Ground gears on test - Results promising. Propose to fit to 5BIV

"Wraith" engine. Memo. E.1/HP.21.7.34 was read. General layout of chassis was also inspected. It was considered a good idea to build two engines, - one a "Safety-first" and the other a high power design suitable for either normal aspiration or boosting by centrifugal blower. The general idea is that the engine for the R.R. would not be blown but the one for the Bentley would be, and Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} said that from a sales point of view, and with the object of keeping the Bentley always as different as possible from the R.R., he would like to see the two engines with different heads.

"SpectreCodename for Phantom III". Since the last meeting a preliminary report on the running of the engine has been received, as per Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}2/KW.12.7.34

The chassis is in hand and it is still hoped to have it completed before the August holiday.

For reasons of secrecy it was considered advisable to do the early testing of the engine unit and gearbox in the Vulture chassis.

Changeover Arrangement for Coil on Bentleys. This is fitted to 4-B-IV. The Experimental Dept. are issuing standardisation sheet, and HY.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} will look into the question of its early introduction.

Regarding Experimental Cars, the list was gone through, but it did not appear possible to dispose of any, with the exception of the Morris Cowley, the idea being to use the Essex Terraplane in its place, so as to get some mileage piled up.
Dispose of 20E.X.
19G.IV goes to Dubonnet
? Vulture
