ALL COMMUNICATIONS TO BE ADDRESSED TO THE FIRM. ASTON CROSS, BIRMINGHAM. Development Supt., 13th May, 1921. dict. 12th. Messrs Rolls Royce, Ltd., DERBY. Attention of Mr. Hives. Dear Sirs, We have to thank you for the opportunity given us to-day of again examining the Dunlop Straight Side Tyres on your test car. The tyres in question, as you know, were provided with an experimental tread in which the pattern was partly turned and cut out and not moulded. The increase of noise to which you have called our attention was found to be due to the creation of closed air pockets due to the elimination of the outlet provided by the central grooves, these having disappeared by now. On opening out the edges of the cross grooves, the noise disappears, and we have altered the tyres accordingly, and have left them for your further test. As we are now producing these tyres from our finished moulds, we should much appreciate your taking an early opportunity of equipping some of your cars with these new tyres. We have asked our General Sales Manager to get in touch with you on the subject Yours faithfully W.H. Paull Development Supt., | ||
