Laboratory note regarding scum formation in a carburetter casing caused by electrolytic action.

In answer to your note EFC1/AT3119. All reference to the scum formed, due to the electrolytic action of water, in a carburetter casing is given in the last paragraph of our note H15/B191218., and is given below:-

" The scum itself was found to contain Sodium and Silicon, and it is probable that sodium silicate was used during manufacture and this may have accentuated the trouble".

The alloy was 12% Copper similar to our old piston metal
