v.{VIENNA} old? 606. E/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}1/MN.14.7.36. To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Copy to Dey He/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} MHO Ha/Martindale. ---------------- WRAITH II. Front Brake Operation. We have already sent to you the scheme for the front brake drums and shoes for Wraith II. On W.Sch.4856 herewith we send to you the front brake adjustment and the operating gears on the brake carrier and the yoke piece. The adjustment gear is made up of a number of pieces common with the adjustment on the rear brakes, and several pieces which are similar. A very short connecting link between the bell crank lever and the lever on the crankhaft has entailed a special design. The central rod of the link is slipped sideways through a slot into the ball pad housing, the slot being filled subsequently by a shim held in position by means of a bolt. The thickness of this shim must be such that the central rod is not prevented from turning. If it is found necessary the whole of this link and the ends of the levers can be enclosed in a leather stocking. This scheme also shows a modification to the brake drum fixing, enabling the drum to be removed from the hub without dismantling the latter, so bringing the front brakes in line with the design for the rear brakes.
