Troubles are being met with the new headlamps. A sample of which was handed over to BY/RD. This is a case where the trouble is remedied by the makers but we have to stand the cost of dismantling and re-erecting. In our opinion the makers should pay for this. Carburetters - Phan.III & 25/30 HP. Chauffeurs are cleaning out the main jet. There has been several carburetters ruined by the stripping of the thread when taking the main jet out by chauffeurs, ( as per instruction book). We advise cutting out this operation and the deletion of the jet tool in the kit. The trouble is caused by over tightening the plug in the orifice of the main jet. This strains the thread. The main jet having the same dia. of thread fouls the strained threads upon being withdrawn and as stated in some cases the damage is such that the plug cannot be firmly screwed in again. A copper asbestos washer in place of the alum. washer under the plug would probably help matters. One point requires watching and that is the clearance between the top of the plug and the bottom of the main jet for petrol supply purposes. GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} | ||
