Our Mr. Davies informs us that it will be convenient for our Mr. Ikin to visit your Works on Wednesday the 27th inst., about 2-o-clock, for the purpose of inspecting your new Brake Lining Testing Machine. The time and date are quite convenient to us, and our Mr. Ikin will be interested to make this visit. We have been holding back one or two test samples which we have prepared, with the idea of seeing them tested on your new rig, but as it is doubtful whether there will be sufficient time for this, we are sending the samples under separate cover to-day. If you could manage to have these tested for Wednesday next, it will be interesting to consider the graphs given, and perhaps give some guidance as to the direction of future experiments. Samples marked "400" GM/3 contain the excess quantity of graphite as compared with the earlier samples which you have tested, and it will be interesting to see the effect of the graphite on the shape of the curve, as if this effect is favourable, we could quite easily utilise different types of proofing on the same graphited fabric.
