X235/27941 Since your recommendation with reference to the S.S. shock absorbers, we have been carrying out a number of tests and also Hancock at Chateauroux has also been carrying out tests. It is very difficult to arrive at any definite conclusions because a number of compromises must be made. We have not found one shock absorber setting which is ideal for all conditions. We attach copy of Hancock's recent results which largely confirm the results we have obtained, but we have not the same facilities for high speed work over good and bad roads as they have in France. Since the dynamic restriction is now obsolete we are asking Hancock to try and find the two fixed loads which will give the same result as he is at present obtaining on the front. We shall continue the tests on suspension because it is such a complex subject. We must keep in mind that the unanimous reports on the excellence of the S.S. springings was obtained with dynamic restrictions and the original settings. Similar shock absorbers were reported to be excellent on 14-EX and 29.CL. which was run all over the Continent by CWB. It is quite possible those results might be further improved but it would be a pity if we lose any of the good qualifications we have obtained | ||
