Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}2/ML. 1378 4.2.41. [Handwritten in red ink] 1941 Pub' Camp! W.Boddy,Esq., "Motor Sport" 129, Fleet Road, S.Farnborough. HANTS. Dear Mr. Boddy, Thank you for your letter of 31.1.41. which I only received on the 3rd. February. I have marked your proof in one or two places where I do not understand the con-text and in one case I have corrected the rear axle ratio from 4.1 to 4.25. Two places which I have marked, "see note", are where I have the following comments to make :- Page 14. You observe that the highest speed you obtained on the overdrive was 81 m.p.h., also, that 4,000 r.p.m. seemed to be the peak useful revs. We now have this trials car back at the Works. It was finished in the turmoil at the beginning of the war, and we never had the opport-unity of checking it over. The result is that it appears, for some reason or other to be at least 10 m.p.h. down in maximum speed, and we are putting this right. Under favourable conditions every Bentley V.{VIENNA} should do 95 m.p.h., and if you have time, we could demonstrate this at a later date. - Continued - | ||
