Referring to the last para. of R2/M27.2.26., in connection with EAC. 7., we have issued instructions for the following:-

GEARBOX.
(1) Simplified change lever mechanism, and gate and shaft to suit body frame.
(2) Lightened and simplified gearbox casing.
(3) Flexible suspension for front and rear.
(4) Internal teeth in place of dog clutch for direct drive.
(5) Roller spigot bearing.
(6) Elimination entirely of all starter drive and parts connected with same.
(7) New engine coupling.

STARTER ON ENGINE.
Complete instructions have been issued for fitting this on engine. This incorporates all improvements made to electrical units, modified starter motor ratio, and duplex press button switch.

Although it will not hold up the testing of the car, there are on this section either -

(a) a few fittings required in connection with the transfer of the 2 ammeter wires, and 3 press button switch wires, from instrument board to dashboard, through the existing small flexible tube, or -

(b) a reconsideration of the scheme of transfer of all the wires from instrument board to dash.

(a) uses existing parts but is not so clean and orderly, and (b) means carrying all wires in one trunk and making a fitting in rear of switchbox so that the conductors from ammeter and duplex press button switch - 5 in all - can be led into it. This means a modification to distribution box, but we favour this because we understand that a detachable connection must be made somewhere on dash to allow body building facilities, and would rather have them centralised.
