For many years the Company has recommended Rolls-Royce owners to use the small block of wood for holding out the clutch at night and when the car is standing, in order that the clutch fabric may be kept well impregnated with oil. Sales Dept. have often raised with us in the past our reasons for recommending this and at the same time refraining from fitting a small device more in keeping with the chassis. We cannot see any reason for holding out against this demand, since we admit at that the clutch requires this treatment. We think that the only objection that can be raised is that the wooden block cannot possibly be used inadvertently and the catch is perhaps difficult to design to avoid this risk.
