Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Les.22/KW.5.7.35.

We are in rather an awkward position with regard to the required spring load for the front of SpectreCodename for Phantom III.

When SpectreCodename for Phantom III III left England it appeared that 1500 lbs. front road springs were needed, however this made the front of the car about 600 lbs. heavier than the actual weight.

Now Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} thinks he has found his fault with regard to obtaining spring leverages. However, his new figures do not fully agree with our information. Can you therefore make a fixture as shown shaded on the attached sketch, which fits up against both spring pots, and will enable you to measure accurately the distance vertically between the spring pots and the bottom centre of the yoke piece. That is, we require measurements B and B¹, this being obtained by subtracting A from C. The measurements should be taken with the complete car empty.

We should like you to telegraph the figures B and B¹, as up to the moment we have not been able to instruct replacement front springs for your car.
