W.A.Robotham, Esq.,
Rolls-Royce, Ltd.,
DERBY.

Dear Mr.Robotham,

From time to time we have had discussions on matters of mutual interest concerning the technicalities of car design and by now I think we can approach each other on a subject such as the one mentioned below without necessarily feeling that we are giving away trade secrets.

I hope, therefore, that you will not mind my asking a few questions about the "Hayes" fan as used by General Motors. I believe you are interested in this and as we have been investigating its possibilities I should be glad if you could tell me whether there are any Patents in this country relating to it. Any information you can give regarding Patent numbers would be much appreciated.

Our chief interest in the "Hayes" fan lies in the quietness of same, but we have no information regarding its air delivery. Have you any information on this subject you can give me compared with a normal four-bladed fan?

Thanking you for any assistance you can give me in the matter,

Yours truly,

A.G. Booth

Chief Technical Engineer.
