COPY. X7810. To EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson}4/MJ. 21.10.30. X.7830. X.7380. X.7810. With reference to the new wheels which you called for on R's car being .375" further out on the rear. We always understood that the predominating factor on the rear seat was the brake drum, and not the wheel. Additionally, we cannot quite see why a Sports Type car such as the one you are building for R.{Sir Henry Royce} should want still wider rear seats. As you are aware, we think these wheels give us a little on the steering, but on the other hand continually increasing the width of the car makes it less manoeuvrable for modern traffic conditions, and additionally there are several countries in Europe which will definitely forbid entrance of any car wider than our present P.II. In view of these facts we should really like to know of how much value to you, as a coachbuilding expert, the .750 wider track obtained on the wheels is.
