Rg{Mr Rowledge}9/W6. 11. 23 - 2 - Contd. I enclose herewith a print of a drawing of a brake applied to the E.A.C. front axle, in which I have endeavoured to make use of the results of those experiments. I think the drawing is sufficiently explanatory. We put the pressing cams nearer to one end of the shoe than the other, with the idea that less surface is required when going backwards. An advantage of this type of brake is that it loads the brake drum equally on both sides. I think there is a possibility of a brake on these lines requiring very much less pressure to operate than the usual type. Rg.{Mr Rowledge} | ||
