| -3- Clutch. The operation of the clutch has been greatly improved by adopting the parallel link motion. This gives a reasonable and consistent engagement and also reduces to a negligible amount the effect of engine movement being conveyed to the driver via the pedals. Brakes. Continue effective. Rear brakes have developed a harsh dry noise and also squeal when first used after periods of rest. The car is at present in the shop for a modification which is hoped will overcome this complaint. There has been no recurrence of servo judder since the modification to star springs mentioned in the previous report. Steering. Remains consistent, no signs of tightening up with needle bearings fitted to pivots. No low speed wobbles. Only criticism is sideways shake of column on certain road surfaces. Exhaust System. Continues quiet, free from rattles and squeaks, no further failure of welded joints. Long studs fitted to exhaust manifold are so far satisfactory, mileage 5,000. A manifold stud has broken on EXA-1 - Sg {Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} 's car, and a set of long studs have been supplied for replacement. Petrol System. No trouble, either side of pump will cope with maximum demand. | ||
