Stromberg Carburetters on test - 20/25.

With reference to the big bore 20/25 cars on test, Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} has established that he gets better results with a 63 instead of a 62 main metering jet. We therefore recommend that the specification of the carburetter should be altered accordingly.

We are of the opinion that this change is probably necessitated by the low water temperature at which these cars are being run, but we have not yet had sufficient experience of this cylinder head to raise the thermostat operating figure to the 80°C. necessary to give the best carburation results. Tests are however being carried out on the point in France and if it is found that this temperature can be utilised without overheating under any condition it will be standardised, and it should then be possible to revert to the original carburetter specification.
