CHROMIUM PLATING. X1360

We do not wish to have valve springs Chromium plated because we can see no advantage whatever in treating them this way.

In chosing road springs, we may have chosen the wrong part to Chromium plate. The reason we chose a spring was because we thought it was the most severe test to see how much Chromium plate would stand wear. the

Our view however is that Chromium plating is a modern treatment of materials which is rapidly coming into use and we ought to obtain some experience with it. We desire to avoid, if possible, the same thing happening as on the Cadmium plating where nothing was done until R.{Sir Henry Royce} sent a wire insisting that a Cadmium plating plant should be installed.

We suggest as an alternative to road springs, water pump rotor spindles or tempered gudgeon pins.
