X9410 Telephone message received from Miss Elias for "R" 1.25 p.m. 17.7.24 Wer Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} D/Sn{Mr Sanderson}12/OG17.7.24 Consider bad impression chiefly due to internal friction on springs. If car still unsatisfactory with flexible and frictionless rear springs, fit same car with 3 sets of front springs, one old standard, one 25% stiffer, and one 12% stiffer, taking care that friction is equal and especially the minimum in the thicker springs. Do not consider radius rod desirable or necessary and fear they are too complicated and will wear noisy. Be aware new springs naturally have more internal friction because after use this is reduced and surfaces bend better and do not squeeze out lubricants. You will remember the demand has been for more friction. Swimming cars are not fast and make people sick. We have found it necessary for sometime to reduce this. Sales Trials car sometimes has the thick leaf springs favoured by P.N. These have hardly any internal friction. D/Sn.{Mr Sanderson} | ||
