E.R. 496a (20H) (D.A. 652 20-2-24) J.H.D. 4990 EXPERIMENTAL REPORT. Expl. No. 9410 9411 REF:Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}2/LG17.7.24. To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to BJ. c. to DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. to E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. to BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} SECRET. SPRINGING TESTS ON EAC.111. We have left with the Sales Dept. an EAC.111. open touring car which has springs both rear and front the same strength as 107-MG., (which is the open 40/50 HP. Trials car) except for the increased rating for the front springs. Comparing this car with 107-MG, it was definite that there was a distinct improvement with this car over the original EAC.11. car 46-PK. The difference in the springing of the two cars was not nearly so marked, but the impression was that 107-MG had still the best springing for the particular conditions under which the cars were tried. The Sales agreed that they would like a more extended run on the car, and that they would also like the back seats to be upholstered similar to 107-MG. The car which we took had no trimming in the back seats although the front seats were completely trimmed. This is being carried out now at Barkers. We have also delivered to Sales a Hooper limousine EAC.111. car which has springs similar to those on the 40/50 HP. Trials Landaulet car which is in London - the only difference being that the front springs have the increase in strength agreed to for the 4-wheel brake cars. We have sent to London today, a pair of front springs suitable for the EAC.111. open car which is there. contd:- | ||
