'SS{S. Smith}' RADIATOR, CROSS MEMBER, AND SUSPENSION.

Herewith we send N.sch.2683 shewing the radiator and suspension and radiator cross member.

It will be seen that the radiator tubes have been again reduced. This is in view of the increased area, so that the total cooling effect should be slightly greater than EAC.7.

The construction of the radiator shutters, control etc. is to be exactly like EAC.7. and we are not expecting to send you further information on these points. The only thing we may do is to send you an outline of the top tank because of the reduced width of the radiator.

We also send N.schs. 2687/8. These are alternative methods of fastening the cross member to the frame side member. The object is to find the cheapest and simplest way of doing this which will be as rigid as possible in the plan view. Of the 3 alternatives shewn it will be seen that N.sch. 2688 has the fewer pieces, namely two only. N.sch. 2683 has the most pieces numbers but fewer pieces than N.sch.2687. We are inclined to favour N.sch.2683., but if Derby, from the point of view of manufacture, of the cross member, have any choice we shall be glad to have their remarks.
