| -4- (17) Cont'd.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} (h) Increased top and 3rd S.M. cam angle, N.Sch.4605. (i) Permanent scheme for ball bearings on 1st motion shaft to N.Sch.4537 with longer engine coupling shaft to suit. (j) Oil drain for front bearing, N.Sch.4609. (k) Oil distribution to N.Sch.4592, lubrication of 2nd speed bushes to oil pump scheme. (l) Oil drains and guards, N.Sch.4582 and N.Sch.4583. (m) Isolated change gear lever. Design not yet finished. (n) Gearbox front stay to N.Sch.4567. (o) Disc type servo damper, N.Sch.4428. (p) N.Sch.4606, Fig.1, to cure foul! (q) Modifications to lower end of swinging arm and links connecting servo cam to countershaft to be specified by Hdy.{William Hardy} (r) 9⁰ cones to N.Sch.4661. (18) EXHAUST SYSTEM. With regard to the exhaust systems for the above cars, we would like 2 systems to be built up wholly to LOP. 86603 (as instructed for production), and one system to the same LOP., but incorporating Lec.4640, which shews the silencer lagged with sheet asbestos, and a welded-on sheath in the American fashion. The air silencers are a different proposition because we have received during the last few days 2 different schemes of float chamber vents. Scheme LeC.4752 shews internal vent pipes leading to the resonance chamber instead of the present external pipes, and scheme LeC.4754 consists of a gauze flame trap to prevent a back-fire igniting the gas which may collect in the resonance chamber. | ||
