WOODHEAD ROAD SPRINGS. X3854

Attached are particulars of a rear springs which we have removed from a car in the Experimental Dept. We wish you to obtain a pair of springs similar to the model in length, width and eye dimensions, the main difference being that we wish them to be 33 1/3 weaker but to be flat under the same load as the present spring.

We should like these spring constructing with 3 rebound leaves, if possible, as this will retain the same amount of internal friction.

As we are increasing the initial camber by 2.25" the total maximum deflection of the spring will also be increased by this amount thereby putting up the stress. The springs however will only be used for experimental purposes and will not be subjected to endurance tests.

We should be obliged if you could approach Messrs. Woodhead and see what they can do for us in this matter, undoubtedly they will have to increase the already large number of these but we suggest they keep these the absolute minimum. As usual, we are requiring these springs urgently, Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} we therefore suggest the makers are given a free hand to do the best them can for us.
