HYDRAULIC SHOCK DAMPERS. Y235 Intensive tests which we have been carrying out on a rig have demonstrated that the hydraulic damper as at present designed, will not stand up to the loads which we find necessary to produce sufficient damping on the rear for Continental conditions. The links, lever and small lever bearing bush have in turn given trouble. While therefore with the present damper we can obtain the load we are at present using on the Hartfords, we consider that it will be desirable to re-design the hydraulic damper for the rear so that we can obtain all the load we require for any conditions. Until then, we think we should additionally supply Hartfords in special cases and would be obliged if you could let us have a design for fitting both types simultaneously.
