Re Exide Batteries.

Yours EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}/CEP2/C21.12.21.

After a delay, which appears to us to be quite unreasonable, we have today received a letter from the Chloride Electrical Storage Co. Ltd. dated 2nd inst. quoting prices for reconditioning those cells and batteries mentioned in the above quoted note, which it was decided should be repaired at our expense. The letter is as follows:-

"The battery from chassis 6 LW (R.4175) requires new plates "and separators throughout, the remainder of the battery being "good for further use. Our price for this repair (Uncharged) "is £3.18.3d.

"The battery from chassis 25 FF (R.4176) consisting of 5 "cells only, requires new plates and separators, the remainder "of the battery being good, and our price for this repair "(uncharged) is £3.5.9d.

"Of the three Test Department batteries (R.4179/80), two "require new plates and separators throughout, for which our "price (uncharged) will be £3.18.3d. each, but the third "requires new negative groups, three positive groups, thirty "wood separators and 60 ebonite, for which repair and "recharging our price will be £3.7.0d.

"Of the four Test Department 2 volt cells, three required "new plates and separators and our price for these repairs "(uncharged) will be 12/9d. per cell. The fourth also "requires a new box and lid{A. J. Lidsey} and for this cell (uncharged) "our price is 18/6d."

Please let me know whether you accept the prices quoted. In the affirmative case, I will issue a requisition recommending that the work be done.
