P.2. L.H. BONNET.

When sending you our N.sch. 3096. we said that
we thought the bonnet could not project more than .075
beyond the back of the dashboard if we were retaining only
our 3/8" isolation gap. At present we get 1/4" of fore and aft
movement at the corners of the dashboard. When we use a
continuous rubber strip in the place of the 4 rubber washers
as we propose to do, in fact have to do, with the scheme
intended, we agree that there will be no movement fore and
aft relatively between the body and the dashboard. The latter
will be carried with the body. We still think we shall
get 1/4" of movement between the corner of the scuttle and
the bonnet hinge. Since, however, we are anxious that this
gap shall be reduced to a minimum, and that OY. tells us
that 1/8" gap has been found sufficient on Springfield cars,
we suggest that Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} might mount the bonnet on the 2nd.
L.H. P.2. - 25-EX - with only 1/8" gap, and experimentally
increase this gap until the minimum permissible gap is
obtained, when we should be informed so that the coachbuilders
prints may record the final result.
