[Stamp: THE SOCIETY OF MOTOR MANUFACTURERS & TRADERS LTD] Our Ref. 43/397/R.{Sir Henry Royce} Your Ref. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}12/R.{Sir Henry Royce} 30th June, 1937. W.A. Robotham, Esq., Messrs. Rolls-Royce, Ltd., DERBY. Dear Mr. Robotham, Many thanks for yours of the 23rd, and the order for the five tyres, which has been immediately put in hand by cable. I shall be very interested to try a car fitted with these tyres, and to come up to Derby and spend a few minutes with you. There are one or two points about the Bentley car which I would like to discuss with you, namely, oil consumption, which I think could be improved without interfering with the efficiency of the engine. In the meantime, could you let me know if the radial thickness of the piston rings you are using is to the British standards and not to the American standards which are wider than the type used in England. If at any time you have any new ideas and you require any tests from an outsider who is not biassed in any way, I shall be very pleased to try and help, as I have served my time at Engineering at Robey's of Lincoln, and have had many years experience in the Motor Trade and on aircraft engines. I feel sure that the Dual-10 tyres will entirely eliminate the noise trouble and surprise you as far as anti-skidding properties are concerned. Yours faithfully, p.p. R.M. PAPELIAN LIMITED.
