X8530 V8080 Y4662 We thank you for your BY2/H/22.8.27. and BY10/H/22.8.27. which make matters quite clear to us. We have received the sample patch, and when we have the Watford clock to replace the one now inserted, we shall send the sample to "Sales" to be fitted to a car, in order that they may give us their approval. With regard to the Show Cars, we note that you have asked the Order Office to give a date of delivery for six sets. It will be appreciated that all we need to enable the coachbuilders to go ahead are six frames for the instrument board, F.75556. The patches themselves could be inserted a few days before the Show, if it is found necessary. Could Derby supply six frames in say ten days from this date. You will have realised that, inorder to use the framed instruments, we need the mix carb. controls to be moved out to a position .7.500 ins. from the centre of the car. This involves moving out the distribution box and Klaxon as indicated on N.Sch 2306 and fitted to 7 EX. Although we would prefer the design of control shewn on N.Sch.2305, and would urge its adoption as soon as possible, yet we suggest that we carry on with our present controls for the time being, inorder not to complicate the issue. Would Derby please say whether these dashboard modifications are likely to be so difficult and far off as to prevent our using the patch of instruments on the Show Cars? The Show Cars themselves need not have the dashboard modifications, as the controls can be moved out to the 7.500 ins centres on the instrument board and not be coupled up to the dash. When we have so moved the controls and are prepared to offer the framed instruments as an extra, we suggest that the recommended arrangement of instruments for use when our patch is not purchased should be exactly the same as the grouping in the patch as far as the relative positions of the instruments are concerned. Sales would like Derby to send them a price for the scheme. We presume that the customer will be credited with the price of the instruments which we normally supply with the chassis free of extra charge. The changes which we call for to the arrangement to the dash will call for no extra charge. EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} | ||
