ORIGINAL SECRET TO HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} FROM R.{Sir Henry Royce} R3/M9. 8. 23. c. to CJ E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} A.{Mr Adams} C. RE. REACTION VIBRATIONS. X9950 In our experiments with the Hawk-North-cliffe we were proposing to try friction dampers between the underframe, at or near the dash. We now think this position is wrong. The dampers should be as far forward as convenient so as to be attached to that part of the frame which is damped by the road springs, and forms dampers. We shall also try the EAC. in this position.
