Dear Sirs,

Further to our letter of yesterday, we have to inform you that the Rolls Royce Car mentioned therein is now at your Derby Works, where the Chauffeur is under a course of instruction.

This would appear to be an excellent opportunity for the apparatus to be inspected in actual use.

We would like to point out that on this particular car we were not able to fit our 36" silencer, which is the size we fit wherever possible. The owner reports that he has already received a message from his chauffeur to the effect that the fitting has been commented upon unfavourably, but we have no information as to whether the comments were made by a mechanic or a responsible person. We rather imagine that any unusual fitting appearing at your Works on any Rolls Royce Car would be liable to criticism.

The only way to convert this criticism into a favourable expression of opinion would be by trial of the apparatus by your own experts. We trust that our apparatus will be favoured by this sort of test, and we are convinced that you will find that it has no damaging effects of any sort when fitted to a Rolls Royce Car, although it is quite likely that it could be modified and adapted to fit your types with greater ease and simplicity, particularly if built into the chassis.

Contd.
