-5- Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Lid.{A. J. Lidsey}1/MA.16.1.32. cont'd Gear box filler plug. There does not appear to be any reason why these should all be different sizes. It should not be very difficult to alter the parts in question so that a 1" plug is common to all (incidentally saving production costs.) We should then use a new box spanner 1" x 7/8" which sizes are needed for front and rear hub removal and delete spanners. F.9314 F.54932 and F.54716., saving 4/3d. Z.2810. Petrol Tank drain plug spanner. This can be done away with if the question of ground clearance is ignored. We could use a 1" hexagon plug and delete this spanner, the decrease in ground clearance would be very little say 3". Saving 1/6½d.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} Tools(cont'd) (b). II BY alteration to necessary tools. We estimate that a considerable saving in price and weight will be achieved by reverting to double ended jaw spanners; in addition we may be able to find some firm who can produce these tools at less cost than the present makers another saving may be achieved by leaving off the name Rolls-Royce Ltd., these points are being investigated. If all the foregoing economies can be effected we are left with a tool kit as follows. Jaw Spanners. (Double ended.) 5BA x 3 BA; 1/4" x 1BA; 5/16" x 3/8"; 7/16" x 1/2" 11/16" x 13/16". Box Spanners. (Double ended.) 7BA x 5BA; 1BA x 1/4; 2BA x 5BA; 5/16 x 3/8; 7/16 x 1/2" 1" x 7/8". Tommy Bars. 3/16; 1/4"; 5/16; 7/16: Special Tools. Watford Magneto Spanner. Sparking Plug Spanner. Wheel Spanner. Valve spring replacing tool. Rubber headed mallet. 5" pliers. 4" screw driver. Lucas small adjustable spanner. | ||
