F.52219 Cross steering tube spanner :- (Spring loaded tred should not be adjusted by customer.)
E.6298 C. Spanner Exhaust pipe nut (Now obsolete.)
E.6422. C. Spanner Prop shaft and steering column.
E.51338/3/40 Valve grinding tool.
D.50837/8 Distributor spanner.
D.50912 3" file and handle.
Lucas No.4D) oller, replace by Kays oil can.
Enots grease gun, replace by Enots Autolub No.5A.

The saving per car effected by these economies amounts to :- £1. 1. 11d.

(2) Future Economies:- We suggest that considerable economies can be effected by the following, which involve using different types of spanners, and slightly altering the design of certain parts in order that expensive special tools may be deleted or in order that one spanner may do work for which at the present moment two or three are required.

(a) Spares. We know of no future economies possible over and above those recommended as immediate.

(b) Tools. By alteration in design of chassis, G.7864) back axle drain plug spanner. This is an expensive spanner and is necessary due to the stand pipe method of indicating the oil level. By altering the casing slightly for a drain and a 1" plug in the casing which will let oil overflow when the correct level is reached this tool can be deleted saving 3/6d. In addition a small saving in back axle cost is effected.

E.53017. The water pipe connection nut spanner. This is a special C spanner used for this one job only. By altering the design of top water pipe the ring nuts can be deleted entirely, viz., modify the radiator inlet bend so that the rubber connection is clipped directly on to it, modify the cylinder head front cover to take a cast bend similar to that used on the radiator bottom tank, there are no disadvantages and a chassis price saving would be effected.

Saving due to deletion of spanner 1/3d.

F.9814 F.54932. Box Spanners. These are used for drain and filler plugs on axle, gear box and engine. The following sizes are used for these parts.

Engine sump oil drain plug. 1".
Gear box oil drain plug. 7/16".
Rear axle oil drain plug. 13/16".
Rear axle filler plug. 13/16".
