G.W.Hancock,Esq., Hotel de France, Chateauroux, Indre, FRANCE. K 7940. To GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}5/MJ.6.5.30. Many thanks for your note re. the rear road spring defects. We are taking the matter up with the makers. We are sending you some parts for the radiator mounting to overcome 'jellying'. These should be fitted to the left-hand car as this is a good sample of 'jellying'. If you fit them to 1-WJ they will not get a test as the radiator is steady on that car. In order to get enough spring control movement of the radiator you will have to lift it .100 at the centre by the washer provided. The spring should then be fitted each side and set up .220" giving a working length of 1.130. It is important, when putting the tension on these springs, to hold the radiator square so that each spring gets the same amount of tension when the radiator is in the central position. There should be at least .200 clearance between the radiator bottom tank and the cross-member over the spring to ensure that the 'jellying' is cured. We send you Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}286, which you can cut up for distance pieces to put under the nut and get the correct deflection on the springs. When you have got the springs correctly adjusted we want you to adjust the central diobolo ruber which we are | ||
